Grand Rapids Dialogue Iftar Dinner – March 4, 2026

The Intercultural Association of Michigan (IAM), in collaboration with the Kaufman Interfaith Institute and the Shoulder to Shoulder Campaign, hosted a community iftar on March 4, 2026, at Boston Square Church in Grand Rapids. This free, family-friendly Ramadan dinner brought together individuals and families from diverse backgrounds to share a meal and connect in a welcoming environment.

The event was designed to foster dialogue, mutual understanding, and friendship across different communities. Attendees had the opportunity to learn about one another’s traditions while experiencing the spirit of Ramadan, emphasizing inclusivity and respect among people of all walks of life. IAM continues to organize such events to strengthen community bonds and create spaces where people can come together in meaningful ways.

During the program, speakers offered reflections on the meaning of Ramadan, highlighting themes such as compassion, self-discipline, gratitude, and community. In addition to the talks, there were henna hand decorations, which were especially enjoyed by children, adding a festive and engaging element to the evening.
