Metro Detroit Dialogue Iftar Dinner – February 24, 2026
The Intercultural Association of Michigan (IAM) was pleased to host a Dialogue Iftar Dinner on February 24, 2026, at the Balkan Community Center in Troy, Michigan. Guests from across the Detroit metro area attended, including city officials, the mayor, as well as community and religious leaders, for an evening of connection, conversation, and shared experience.
The program also featured brief remarks on Ramadan and its significance. Reflections highlighted Ramadan as a powerful time for inner renewal and liberation: by fasting from sunrise to sundown, believers willingly set aside food and drink, strengthening the willpower needed to overcome the self.
This Dialogue Iftar Dinner provided a meaningful setting to build bridges and reaffirm the value of openness and coexistence. IAM remains dedicated to creating welcoming spaces that spark dialogue and strengthen a connected community.
